Hello there!
Welcome to my blog, and welcome to "Planet Fames"!
I'm excited to try and get into this whole blogging thing. I'm not sure if you can see on the page or not, but I tried to get into blogging back in 2008. It did not go well! haha I basically posted like 3-4 times, and then didn't post again until 2011! There were probably only 10-12 posts total before, and thankfully I was able to delete them so you don't have to suffer through them! (WHAT was I thinking?!? lol)
So I am just kind of winging it here, but hopefully as I begin doing this more often I will develop more of a structure and a style to the blog. Until then, I kindly ask you to be nice to me! 😊 I welcome feedback and participation, so if you have any thoughts or recommendations I welcome them!
I thought I would start my first blog with a little background on me, such as who I am, what I do, and why I thought blogging was a good idea. I also thought the first blog would be the best place to set up any basic ground rules. Rules are subject to change at anytime, because it's called "Planet Fames"! You want to have a say in the rules, get your own planet! 😋
The rules:
1. Hate and personal attacks are not tolerated. You can disagree, passionately, but the second you cross the line into personal attacks on a person your posts will be deleted. Do it a second time and I will block you from the blog. There is enough hate, I don't need it on my planet. haha
2. By participating in this blog, you are agreeing to disagree. You might not agree with me or my thoughts, that's ok! I welcome the free exchange of ideas and beliefs, because i believe that is what leads us to greatness. Be respectful though! If you are not, see rule 1.
3. This is a blog intended for adults. There will be times when there is strong language used, or topics discussed, that will not be suitable for some people. Be aware of this now, because I don't want to hear it later.
4. NO GRAMMAR POLICE! Please forgive in advance any typos, grammar issues, etc. They will happen, this is not an english paper, I don't have the time or the desire to check and recheck everything. If that's a problem for you, I understand, and I wish you luck finding a blog that works for you! haha
That's it for now on the rules. Lets move on to-
How it works:
1. Topics are completely random. I may pick a relevant news topic, religion, a move, whatever. So be ready for just about anything!
2. The goal is to post a blog a minimum of weekly, either Saturday or Sunday most likely. I may post more in a week, but the goal is to hold myself accountable for 1 blog a week for now.
3. These are my personal thoughts, beliefs and ideas on the topics I bring up. You don't have to agree. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. You can accept, reject, or modify anything and everything I share.
4. Reader participation is ENCOURAGED! I love feedback, topic ideas, positive or constructive criticism, so please get involved. Either by messaging me or posting to the blog. I want this to be interesting for you, so please get involved! Specifically with topic ideas though, any topic idea I receive before Saturday morning, will be considered for that weeks blog. If your topic is not chosen, don't worry! I will save them all, and if I think it a good topic, I might use it at a later date.
OK! Now, about me, and why the blog!: Most of you probably know all or some of this, but hopefully you'll learn a little something new.
ME~
My bio info is in the profile, obviously, but a few key facts and things that I think will help flavor the blog~
I'm a 34yo gay man from Omaha Nebraska, now living in Southern California for 3.5 years.
I am 7 years, 2 months and 13 days sober.
Family is EVERYTHING to me. Both my family by blood, and my family by choice. I have loving parents that have been happily married since January 31, 1975. I have 2 brothers (one full, one half), 3 sisters (All half sisters, one that passed away). I'll stop here or I'll be here all week! haha Big family!
I have my own business (businesses), which I built from the ground up and am very proud of. More on this later of course!
WHY THE BLOG~
First, back in 2008 when I created this blog, my nickname was "Fames", It's one of those things where I can't remember why...but a friend decided take Famous and James and there you go... So that's why "Planet Fames". I thought about changing it, but decided I actually kind of liked it for this. I honestly feel a lot of time like I must live in my own little world, that's where my perspective comes from, so why not?😜
Lately, I have been having a lot of people come to me and ask me for advice or my thoughts on things. I have NO idea why! haha Apparently, people seem to think I "know what I am doing", or at least they seem to enjoy my sense of humor and perspective?! haha Anyway, that's why the blog. I figured it was an easy and fun way to share my thoughts, advice and ideas for those of you interested in it.
I'll stop here for today, as this seems like a pretty good start to me. I know, an "intro/bio/rules" blog probably seems like a little bit of a copout, and you were maybe hoping for a bit more "James" in the blog! haha I think this was important though, and I look forward to next week's blog!
Remember, topics and ideas for next week are due by Saturday morning if you want the chance to be in the blog!
