Take the shot!
Good morning Planet Fames!
I hope you all had a great week, and are enjoying a much deserved weekend with friends and family!
This week's blog, I am going to step away from our series discussion on addiction and mental health. I have had something on my heart for a few days now, and I just feel like this is God message that I need to share. I promise to come back to the series next week.
There has been a lot on my mind, and on my heart recently. As most of you that know me, know, I am a very private person. I don't like to share things that I consider personal, or my emotions and feelings, with others. Lately though, there have been a lot of....challenges and struggles that either I, or people I care about, have been going through. So much so, that my heart and my soul have been heavy...
No, I am not going to share what these things are. One, because a lot of them are not mine to share; and two, because that isn't the message that is on my heart this morning.
I know some of you don't share my faith, and that's ok. I know I don't talk about my faith often, because to me...faith is something that you live your life by, not something you have to talk about all the time.
As I said, my heart and my soul have been heavy lately. Personal struggles, work struggles, friends and family going through struggles... It's been...difficult lately, to stay positive and to hold onto my joy. This morning though, I woke up, and three words were repeating in my head. "Take the shot." Over and over again, "take the shot".
Now, I believe that God has spoken to me like this many times before. I don't always understand what the message means, much like this morning. So what I do to help me figure it out, is I go for a drive. Driving has always been my form of meditation. Whenever I need to clear my mind, or I have a problem or issue that needs solving, I hop in the car, and I go for a drive. I can drive for hours sometimes, before I have the answer, but I always end the drive with either an answer or clarity about whatever is going on.
This morning was no different. I woke up, jumped into the SL, and started driving. I drove all the way out to Ranchos Palos Verdes, about 45 miles away, and back. About half way back, I realized I was listening to a song I'd never heard before on my Google Play App. The song was called, Born Ready, and it was just like something clicked in my head.
"Take the Shot. You were born ready."
This might sound corny to you, but I believe that this was a message that God wanted me to hear and share.
I have always told my family, "I would rather go out in a ball of flames, than to live an average life." I think this morning, God was reminding me of that. No matter what you are facing, no matter what your loved ones are going though, no matter the struggle. Take the shot. You were born ready.
Tell the person you love, you love them. Take the trip you've always dreamed of. Tell your secret crush how you feel. Tell your friends and family what they mean to you. Do the things that your putting off for "the right time". The right time, is now! Don't let fear of rejection, the fear of failure, your insecurities and doubts, keep you from taking the shot. Don't let your fear of what other people might think, prevent you from living your truth.
Don't be afraid to face your demons...to feel your pain and face your truth. Share your stories, come out of the closet, whatever it is that is holding you back from living your best life. You have one shot at this life...one chance to get this journey right. To tell your story, to make an impact, to share the real you with the world around you.
You are ready! You were born ready! You are exactly who you are supposed to be, and exactly who God intended you to be. You have been given all the strength, all the power, and all the resources that you need, to live your truth. To live your life. To take the shot!
Living your life in fear, waiting for the perfect time, worrying about what other people think...letting those things have control on your life...is not living. That is surviving...God wants so much more for each of us than that. God wants us to live the life we have been given, not survive it. You are never alone, and you were born ready!
I love you all! Take the shot! You were born ready!
